Growth mindset plan

           Growth mindset is the most important piece of the human nature, the ability to learn new things in our lives.  As a 6th grade student classroom coach, I plan to meet with my students and learn together from analyzing mistakes and listening to different ways to resolve a challenge. I will be sensitive to the reality of each student outside of school, in order to be more effective.

 

          I know that the power and structure of traditional education is designed as a billionaire business, such as the standardized school test in USA. This creates a huge pressure on teachers, especially math and language arts teachers. Whom finally spend most of the time training students to take tests, instead of coaching them to be thinkers, to be creative, to be innovators, and to contribute to the society in their future.   As a teacher, I see this situation every day at school. I will create a lot opportunities to move my students away from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

 

          I would like to motivate my students with reasons, why we have to work different, intelligently, persistently, and cooperatively. Guiding them to improve, set goals and grow. This school year, we will start an amazing journey of digital learning of coding, creating, and designing by using apple technology. I will motivate my student to embrace challenges, to create, and to see mistakes as opportunities. We will aim to reach mastery in coding using Playground and Sphero BOLTS.  The students will design prototypes apps based on the community needs, and innovation in our “techies club.”

 

          Each member will be personalizing their own journey.  Where they can dream what they want to be in their future and how they can contribute to their own community.  Instead of working for grades or to pass/fail a test. They will have choices, where they can select and create their own plan; move outside from their comfort zone without the fear of  making  mistakes in the process of learning .
