Innovation PLAn

Phase one:
Research of the school community
(Throughout observation and feedback from students, parents, and school staff)
*July 29th to August 28th, 2021
- Summer camp
- Communication with the principal to collect the expectation of management.
- Communication with community families to share and spread the news.
- Communication with one hundred 6th graders and ten 7th graders to find
   enthusiastic club members.
- Installation of the Apple TV and organization of the strategies to use the iPads
  and Sphero BOLTs.
- Creation of the responsibility forms and agreements for the parents, the
  students and for the club.
* August 29th, 2021 to September 5th, 2021
- We began the pilot program with “students in action” five members, whom we
    saw had great potential to be mentors and leaders.
- Then we created objective, purpose, rules, and expectations for the club.
- The creation of the student’s growth mindset e-portfolio in keynotes came next.
- We started by discussing coding; basic vocabulary with the club members.
- We started our tours and explorations for the students through keynotes, swift
   playgrounds, clips, pages, Sphero Bolt, and Meebot dance.
- We moved to the recruit of new members using the strategy “1+1” and posters.
- Reflection in each section to re-oriented the strategies, methodology, and
   pedagogy of authentic learning to refine the effectiveness of the club.
-Frequently research about the importance of coding, authentic learning, growth
   mindset, and identity of the minorities’ community.
 
Phase two:
* September 6th, 2021 to January 20th, 2022
 - Development and implementation of the “Free Libre Open Sources” (FLOS)
   strategy to allow students to pursue their ideas and follow their calling.
                             a) Coding with Sphero Bold
                             b) Designing  apps prototypes
                             c) Coding with Swift playgrounds
                             d) Coding with Meebot Dancers
                             e) Crafting  digital drawing books in paper apps
                              f) Composing digital music in GarageBand
                              g) Recording creative video clips in iMovie
                              i) Coding with Augmented Reality
                              j) Others
 
- Create publicity videos to recruit more students throughout the School Friday’s announcement.

- Invite school staff, Boys and Girls members, PTA members, and SOMS parents throughout each session.
- Reflection in each section to refine the strategies, methodology, and
  pedagogy of authentic learning of the club.
- The students will be working on the FLOS selected by them.
 
 Phase three:
*January  6th, 2022 to May 28th, 2022
- Students will dive deep into coding, Apps prototypes design, creativity video clips, digital drawing memories, and composed digital music.
 
*January 2022
  • I will meet and discuss with the school technology team and/or management the benefits of Techies Club; we will identify staff who likes to replicate the initiative; the plan on how to sustain the programs; analyze the limitation of devices such as iPad, Spheros, and pencils. How to acquire more devices for the school; positive support from the district, and motivational strategies to maintain students engage in technology on 7th and 8th grades.
 
*February 2022
  • Develop coding lessons to incorporate on Math (6th grade) classes using iPads and pencils.
  • Reach out to local business and invite them to participate on any club session and promote the initiative throughout Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
 
*May 2022
  • The students will present to the school community:  Apps showcases, creative videos clips, digital drawing books, composed digital music, coding projects with swift playgrounds, and augmented reality, during lunch time and/or family night.
 
  • Review and reflect about our first year, regarding areas of improvement and celebrations with students, club member families, and staff.
 
  • Graduate the members of the club as novice (Level I, first year) receiving a diploma for “Innovative Tech Designer” and who will be promote to be part of SOMS ambassadors  team (Level II, second year).
 
*June 2022
  • The technology team will discuss with the district technology department the possibility to add more iPads and pencils for students and teachers.
 
  • Summer Camp Academy for students.
 
  • I will attend Professional Development with Apple Education and Lamar University.
 
*August 2022
  • I will start a new cycle beginning with Novice group (Level I) and Ambassador group Level II)
 
*September 2022
  • We will meet with other middle schools to share experiences and strategies from Techies Club to promote innovation and creativity with technology.
 
*March 2022
  • Create a district showcase
 
Support and engage students on their technological journey. Enhancing the opportunities, particularly for adverse economic scholars to break the cycle of poverty.  While, increasing our district transformation initiative T 2-4.
